On the Days you Just want to Relax

Have you ever just had a day were you wanted to relax, but do something. I sure have and I found the most perfect thing to do. Go to an Art Museum, they are so peaceful and quiet! You can either go alone or with company, but either way you will still get to admire great pieces of work. My favorite art museums in Boston are the Museum of Fine Arts, located near Northeastern University or the Institute of Contemporary Art, located in the Seaport area of Boston.

A little back ground on both museums. The Museum of Fine Arts is one of the largest museums in the United States with up to 450,000 pieces of artwork for you to look at. They also have a nice quiet cafe for you to grab a bite to eat or if you are looking to sit down and enjoy a meal they have Bravo, which is more expensive. They also a have a wine bar if you wanted to grab a glass of wine and talk amongst the other guests on pieces of art. Children and teens 17 and under are free admission. Students with an ID present (aged 18+) and seniors (aged 65+) admission is $23 and standard adult admission is $25.

The Institute of Contemporary Art is not only a space were different art pieces can be shown it also has space that different artist can rent out for a period of time and hold exhibitions. It also has a viewing room of the Boston Harbor with a relaxing skyline of the Boston area. As well as the Museum of Fine Arts admission for youth aged 17 and under are free. Student admission with ID present is $10, senior admissions $13 and general admission is $15.  I recently had the opportunity to go and see pieces of art in an exhibition done but artist Walid Raad. His exhibition captured his exploration in ways that we make sense and remember history. Here are some picture I captured during my visit at the ICA.

The Circus is in Town!

That’s right, you read it correctly! The Big Apple Circus is in town. The infamous tent is set up in Boston’s City Hall Plaza and will be there until May 8, 2016! So there are plenty of shows for you to chose from and guess what? There is more than one show a day. It is a great place to go if you are with a group ranging in age because this will entertain people of all ages. Ticket prices range starting at just $25. So get your tickets and head to the circus to experience something amazing!

Spring Break

Its Spring Break! Where are you all going?! If you are anything like me I stayed in the beautiful city of Boston. If you are coming to Boston you just hit the jackpot because I am going to share with you some fun places to visit. If the weather is nice head to Newbury St. for some shopping. There are more stores than you could imagine. As well as a variety of places to grab a bite to eat. Close by is the Boston Public Library that is always nice to visit. If you need a break to just sit and relax they have a beautiful court yard that is placed in the center of the library. Grab a book off the thousands of shelves that interests you and sit in one of the most peaceful places Boston has to offer. On a not so very nice day out I highly suggest visiting the New England Aquarium. Not very long ago they opened an exhibit where you can touch the stingrays!!! That’s right touch them, it is so cool! They also have a really cool penguin exhibit that takes place in the center of the exhibit. If you are lucky enough you might catch the workers swimming around feeding the penguins, which is always amazing seeing. The penguins jump off the rocks to catch the fish! Right next door to the aquarium is also the Simons IMAX theatre. Every week they have different movies available to see and not only are they entertaining, but you I am almost certain you will learn something you had not known before. I hope you have a great Spring Break, stay safe!

Castle Island

If you haven’t been yet, I highly suggest you take a trip to Boston’s Castle Island, where the site of Fort Independence is as well. Located on South Boston’s shore line in Pleasure Bay, Castle Island is a 22 acre Urban park with incredible views. You can get to the island by car or walking. It is a great location to do almost anything! They have a beautiful boardwalk that many people like to walk along with pets, as well as a beach that you can walk along or take a swim in when the weather is nice and hot. It would be a great place to go on a picnic with your significant other or family. If you wanted to go on a picnic , but didn’t want to pack your own lunch you could grab a bite from Sullivan’s, which has everything from seafood, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream and they also serve breakfast daily from 8:30-10:30 am. One of the last perks about this place is you can learn a lot about the history of Boston by taking part in the tours they offer of the Fort Independence. They say that Castle Island is where the past, present and future of Boston collide. You do not want to miss the opportunity of being able to visit a place like this.  Screen Shot 2016-03-03 at 10.17.46 AM
